I reached into my purse yesterday looking for something, and discovered an icky sticky mess. It took me a while to figure out what it was, but I eventually discovered that it was kid’s liquid Benadryl that had leaked. Great.
It’s a leather purse, so I dumped the contents and very carefully swished the lining around in water while being super-careful not to get the leather part wet. (Side note: I was quite pleased at how well that worked out.)
The pile of stuff that had been in there was so impressive, I decided to take a purse inventory. Here were the contents:
- liquid Benadryl with measuring spoon
- kids Advil
- Advil
- Tylenol
- 2 EpiPen with pouch
- EpiPen trainer
- ventolin puffer and Aerochamber
- Swiss Army knife (which includes scissors, a wrench and various knives, openers, screwdrivers and other pointy things)
- 8 piece multi-tool (which includes eyeglasses screwdriver)
- wallet
- wristlet
- glasses
- knitting (I’m making this slouch hat using Mirasol Miski in lavender)
- iPhone charger
- breath freshener
- 3 hand creams
- 3 lip balms
- 6 pens
- 4 lighters
- 13 lip glosses/lipsticks
- 13 tampons
- my cheque book
- blotting papers
- various business cards
- dark chocolate (for emergencies)
- 2 cleaning cloths for glasses
- hand sanitizing wipes
- kids mood ring (which belongs to a friend’s son – I’ve been carrying it around for months)
- hat
- gloves
- garbage
- random pieces of unchewed but out of its packaging gum
- scraps of paper
- gift certificate for one of my favourite coffee shops
- SPIbelt (for when I’m out walking)
- SPIband (also for when I’m out walking – not sure why I need two different things)
Missing from the list, but things that I usually carry around: bandaids, earphones, keys and phone.
What crazy things do you carry around with you?

Need a picture of the ‘purse’ that can hold all that! It has compartments? Besides an iPhone, wallet, keys, and pen, I carry a Mac Book Air, a passport and the dog’s vaccination certificate – the rest of the ‘must haves’ go in an overnight bag that stays in the car.
Some leather is ‘washable’ – I had a new pair of white leather Reboks that got covered in mud and when I couldn’t clean them properly and had nothing to lose, I put them in the washing machine – they came out looking like new and fit like before. :>)
The question is “what’s going back into your ‘purse’?”
The funny thing is, I put just about everything back in! I cut back on the lipsticks, pens and lighters though.
Funny! It’s the kids’ friends things that alway put me over the edge. It’s like I just can’t imagine being responsible for one more material thing and now here I am carting around a mood ring/hairband/bracelet/action figure. It weighs on me!
